Orchestra returns to City Hall with spring concert

The Bermuda Philharmonic Society will make its first return in years to Hamilton’s City Hall with a spring-themed concert that honours two young soloists.

The orchestra will highlight the next generation of Bermudian classical musicians during its presentation of Springtime in Paris next Sunday.

A spokeswoman for the Bermuda Philharmonic Society said: “From the exuberance of Offenbach to the jazz-infused energy of Gershwin and the dramatic intensity of Saint-Saëns, Springtime in Paris promises an engaging and uplifting concert experience — one that celebrates both timeless music and the vibrant future of Bermuda’s arts community.”

The orchestra brings together professional musicians, skilled amateurs and talented high school and college-level performers.

Gabrielle Henderson and JitHom Liew, winners of the 2026 BPS Young Artists Concerto Competition, will perform with the orchestra.

Ms Henderson, a home-schooled high school junior, started playing the French horn at 11 years old and has since honed her skills on the horn and piano at the Bermuda School of Music.

The society said Mr Liew has played the violin since he was 4 years old and has learnt to become an “thoughtful and expressive” performer.

The orchestra will be conducted by Kate Kayaian.

Springtime in Paris will be held at the Earl Cameron Theatre in City Hall on April 19 from 4pm to 6pm.

Tickets are $70 or $40 for seniors and students, and are available on the Bermuda Philharmonic Society’s website.
