Catholic Church honours Hayward
An environmentalist and former MP is to be honoured with a Peace and Justice award from the Catholic Church.
Stuart Hayward, who celebrated his 77th birthday last Sunday, was selected for his “unwavering commitment, dedication and leadership” as a green campaigner and was credited with improving public knowledge on environmental protection.
Mr Hayward, a co-founder of the Bermuda Environmental Sustainability Trust, will be given the award on June 6 at the church hall at St Theresa's Cathedral on Laffan Street, Pembroke.
Family, friends, members of BEST and other environmental organisations have been invited to attend the celebration, as well as members of the public.
Mr Hayward's name will also be added to the Peace and Social Justice Ministry awards plaque, which is displayed in the church hall.
