Seaweed surge comes ashore at beaches

A deluge of sargassum seaweed has washed up along the south shore, including the sands of Horseshoe Bay Beach.

The floating yellow-brown marine algae is carried north to Bermuda waters by winds and currents from the Sargasso Sea.

Large amounts of the seaweed swamped parts of the island from last week.
