Natural Christmas Trees will be collected over the next two weekends, the Ministry of Public Works and Environment announced today.

Trash teams will collect trees on Saturday at areas in Sandys, Southampton, Warwick and Paget parishes as well as within Tee Street and Kent Avenue in Devonshire.

On January 24, trees will be collected in St George’s, Hamilton, Smith’s and Pembroke, as well as Devonshire, with the exception of Tee Street and Kent Avenue.

Residents were urged to place natural Christmas trees on the roadside by 7am on the collection days.

Trees should be free of all decorations, tinsel, lights, stands and plastic bags, a ministry spokesman added.

He said artificial trees will not be collected and should be disposed of at the Tynes Bay public drop-off.

The ministry thanked residents for their co-operation in supporting safe and efficient waste collection operations.
