A vital upgrade continues for one of the island’s top attractions for nature and conservation, which has remained open to the public during extensive renovations.

Jaché Adams, the Minister of Public Works and Environment, reviewed repairs across the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo, which included restoration of its North Rock tank.

Mr Adams said the project was “not simply maintenance, but deliberate and thoughtful investment in the future of BAMZ”.

He was joined by Ian Walker, the facility’s principal curator at BAMZ, who said the work combined modernising ageing infrastructure with maintaining high standards of animal care.

The work is expected to be completed by April, according to an earlier announcement by BAMZ.

Dr Walker added: “These repairs are being carried out within a live facility, which requires careful co-ordination and specialist expertise.

“They form part of a wider plan to ensure BAMZ continues to function as a leading centre for conservation, education and public enjoyment.”
