Public get their say on Parsons Road Park redesign
The Department of Parks has invited Pembroke residents and others to share their thoughts on designs for Parsons Road Park.
A public survey began today to give the community a chance to offer feedback.
Questions will touch on safety, accessibility, sustainability and design.
Jaché Adams, the Minister of Public Works and Environment, said: “Parsons Road Park is an important community space and this survey gives residents a direct opportunity to help shape its future.
“We want to hear how the park is used now, what people value about it and what improvements would make it safer, more welcoming and more useful for the community.”
The survey will ask the public about their connection to the area and the challenges they see.
Comments are welcome on features for future design, with thoughts on accessibility, seating, lighting, pathways, maintenance, environmental protection and the park’s reflection of community identity.
The voluntary survey will take between five and ten minutes. Responses will remain anonymous unless contact information for future opportunities is shared.
Community responses will be collected until June 30, with a report and design concepts expected by mid-September.
A management plan will then be created in accordance with the National Parks Act 1986.
Parsons Road Park features a basketball court and playground, as well as open space.
It links to natural spaces such as the Pembroke Canal and Pembroke Marsh.
The present layout was informed partially by Family Centre’s Pump Up the Park proposal, organised by young residents, which highlighted priorities for improvements.
A ministry spokesman said $250,000 had been proposed for Parsons Road Park in the 2026-27 Budget.
