Organisers looking for optimum effort

The National Equestrian Centre will host 38 riders and 33 horses on Sunday

The Bermuda Equestrian Federation will hold a jumper show on Sunday at the National Equestrian Centre on Vesey Street, involving 38 riders on 33 horses throughout the day.

The first class starts at 9am with pony jumping over obstacles of 2ft 6in and 2ft 9in. These two classes will involve a first round followed by potentially exciting jump-offs that will help to determine placings through a combination of faults and fastest times.

The next four classes on the schedule are intended for those competitors and/or horses that are in the developmental stage and will be attempting heights at up to 2ft 6in. The show organisers are adopting the new “optimum time rules” that help determine the placings in accordance with the number of faults and taking into account an optimum time versus the fastest time.

The second half of the programme will then introduce classes for horse jumping, starting at 2ft 9in through to 3ft 9in. The rules of these classes are the same as for the pony jumping.

The judge for competition is Paul Pereech and the course designer is Ian Truran.
