Harness ace Kiwon Waldron savours triple success
Kiwon Waldron produced a hat-trick of victories for the second time in October during another memorable night of harness racing at Harrah’s Hoosier Park racetrack in Anderson, Indiana, on Wednesday.
The Bermudian driver’s wins came in the pace class at the helm of filly Odds On Candy, and geldings Tell’s Pure Power and Six Sticks of Gum.
Odds On Candy was making her first start since being purchased by co-owners Waldron and trainer Ricky Macomber Jr, and came from behind on the final stretch to take the win by two lengths in 1:55/3 in the night’s opening race.
It was the third win in seven starts for the two-year-old, who has missed the board only twice in her career.
Waldron picked up a second win of the night in more dominant fashion, having led wire-to-wire with two-year-old Tell’s Pure Power, crossing the finish line in 1:52/4 to complete a double for Macomber Racing.
Victory in the tenth race with Marty Rheinheimer’s three-year-old Six Sticks Of Gum in a time 1:54/3 secured the treble for Waldron.
The 25-year-old driver is competing in his second year of standardbred racing in the United States, where has made a name for himself with numerous victories.
