ACBDA quick to attract qualified contractors

Mike Winfield, chief executive officer of ACBDA

The ACBDA will be advertising this week for interested contractors to assist in the site preparation of the team bases at Dockyard for the 35th America’s Cup. In addition, the ACBDA has issued Requests for Proposals (RFP) in the areas of office technology support and communications.

“It has only been a short time since the ACBDA was formally constituted and its board and CEO appointed,” said Mike Winfield, the chief executive officer of ACBDA. “In that time we have been focused on prioritising our immediate objectives, responding to a range of inquiries and meeting with many individuals and groups within the community.

“Several meetings with stakeholders in the tourism sector, prospective suppliers, sponsors and on-water hospitality service providers have been held.”

Mr Winfield added: “The ACBDA will be advertising online and in The Royal Gazette, beginning Tuesday, February 3, for contractors who are interested in assisting with the site preparation for the team bases at Dockyard. We hope that interested parties will respond to the advertisements.

“We have also launched two requests for proposals for ACBDA office support. The first is for communications support to the local ACBDA organisation and the second is for technical software/hardware supply and support of the small ACBDA office. If there are any entities that have not heard from us, they are encouraged to e-mail us on rfp@acbda.bm and we will send an RFP for their consideration. Details will also be available on the website www.acbda.bm.

“We continue to receive valuable support from members of the community who have offered their services in support of the ACBDA. The contribution of many who are volunteering their time and expertise is gratifying and, indeed, motivating.

“We are still in the early stages of the process to engage the wider community in America’s Cup-related activities. As we work through the various needs to advance our preparations, we will continue to reach out to the community to seek engagement. Our guiding principle is to ensure that any opportunities that exist are made widely available to those with the required skills.”
