Bermuda Day Parade takes to streets tomorrow
Revellers are set to soak in the festive atmosphere of the annual Bermuda Day Parade, which will be held in Hamilton tomorrow afternoon.
This year’s parade is scheduled to set out from Albuoy’s Point at 1.30pm, travelling along Front Street, Court Street, Church Street and Cedar Avenue before concluding at the junction of Marsh Folly Road and Dutton Avenue.
A government spokesman noted that the annual half-marathon derby will affect traffic flow into the city from 7.30am on Friday.
“Spectators will be able to purchase refreshments near the birdcage on Front Street and in the Number Five car park next to the flagpole,” he said.
“The Department of Culture is also sponsoring a free fun castle in that same location for families to enjoy.”
Owen Darrell, the Minister of Tourism, Transport, Culture and Sport said he was excited about the event.
“This year’s Heritage Month theme, ‘The Future is Now’, invites us to reflect not only on how far we’ve come as a people, but also on the future we’re actively building,” he said.
“The Bermuda Day Parade is a testament to that vision, and I’m incredibly proud of the community’s response.”
Mr Darrell also noted the importance of the Bermuda Day Fund in supporting the cultural event, stating: “Through our partnership with the Bermuda Foundation, we continue to provide financial support to help ensure accessibility and inclusion for all who wish to participate.”
Anyone interested in supporting the event was encouraged to donate through www.givebermuda.org, with contributions accepted year-round.
