Michael Weeks, the Minister of Public Works, has urged the public to celebrate the upcoming National Heroes Day holiday weekend safely and with a spirit of unity.

Mr Weeks said: “This weekend is a special time to reflect on the achievements of our National Heroes — men and women who helped shape Bermuda into the proud community we are today.

“From the King's Parade on Saturday, to Father's Day on Sunday and the vibrant carnival festivities on Monday, including the early-morning J'Ouvert AM procession and the Revel De Road Carnival in the afternoon, this weekend is full of moments to celebrate who we are as a people.

“Please take this opportunity to enjoy the events, spend time with family and friends and honour the values that bring us together.”

Mr Weeks wished all fathers and father figures a happy Father’s Day and encouraged anyone deciding to enjoy the warm weather on the water to be responsible.

“I know many will be heading out on the water to enjoy the beautiful conditions and I encourage everyone to take the usual precautions to keep yourselves and your loved ones safe,” he said.

“As we celebrate this weekend, let's do so with kindness, consideration and care for one another. I wish everyone a safe, joyful and memorable National Heroes Day weekend.”
