St George’s event cancelled because of rain

The Corporation of St George has cancelled its Annual Cup Match Extravaganza event, which had been scheduled to take place this evening.
A spokeswoman for the corporation blamed the wet weather today for the decision to cancel the event.
“After speaking with a meteorologist, we've been advised that the rain is expected to continue until around midnight tonight,” the spokeswoman said.
“With that in mind, and for the safety and comfort of everyone involved, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel the event.”
The corporation thanked the vendors for the “effort and enthusiasm” that went into the planning of the event and wished the public a happy Cup Match holiday.
