Oscar-nominated films to be screened for fundraiser

A series of Oscar-nominated films are set to be screened this week as part of a fundraiser to support Crime Stoppers.

The Crime Stoppers 9th Annual Film Weekend will begin on Thursday at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute, with the four-day event featuring screenings of five 2026 Oscar-nominated films.

One Battle After Another, Sentimental Value, The Secret Agent, Sinners and Marty Supreme are in the line-up.

The weekend will also include the screening of seven short films by Bermudian film-makers on Sunday.

The list of local films has:

From the Sea we Come, produced by Noelle Young

Gold Bermudian: Debbie Jones-Hunter, written and directed by Kaz Godfrey

Gold Bermudian: Gina Swainson, written and directed by Marq Rodriguez

Gold Bermudian: Michael Frith, written and directed by Kyle Simmons

Isle of Devils and Lawman, both written and directed by Kalilah Robinson

Outcasted, written and directed by Kayo George

A Crime Stoppers spokesman said: “This annual event is Crime Stoppers’ major fundraiser and helps support our community by empowering citizens to participate through its provision of anonymity and independence from police.

He added: “Supporting this Crime Stoppers fundraiser will give people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
