Cecoy Robinson: it’s an honour to be back at PHC

Cecoy Robinson is looking forward to staring work at PHC

Cecoy Robinson has expressed his delight at returning to PHC Zebras as their new head coach.

The former PHC captain has taken over the role from Quincy Hunt, who was angry about the club’s decision to replace him, and is looking forward to the challenges ahead at the helm of the Charity Cup holders.

While the transition of coaches at Stadium Lane has not been without controversy, Robinson prefers to focus on the job at hand.

“It’s definitely an honour to be back and be a part of the growth of the club,” Robinson said.

“Being born and raised at PHC the only thing you want to do as a youngster is to captain the club and to now be the coach is a special moment. I’m excited to get going and see what we can do.

“I don’t have expectations but what I do have is ambition to push us to be better and play better. We need to compete and PHC always have, so I don’t intend to change the mindset in that aspect.

“I’m here as long as my club need me. I want the club to move in the right direction, so as much as I can help with that then I will.”

Robinson’s journey with PHC began in the club’s peewee football programme and extended through to the senior team, where he captained the club for just under six years before departing to play for Dandy Town in 2019.

The son of former Zebras player Cecil Robinson coached First Division outfit Robin Hood last season and also serves as head coach of Bermuda’s under-20 squad. He is one of two former club players returning with Kyle Lightbourne serving as assistant coach.

“I have not completely chosen my coaching staff and at this moment the only person playing a part is Kyle Lightbourne,” Robinson said.

“He will help and be a part of things, which helps with my growth.”

Lightbourne, who also had coaching stints with PHC and the national team, resigned as head coach of Dandy Town after just one season in charge — leading them to the Friendship Trophy.
