Nahki Wells ‘devastated’ to miss Bradford match with injury

Nahki Wells missed Luton game with minor knock

Bermuda coach Michael Findlay may have a few sleepless nights after Nahki Wells missed Luton Town’s latest match with injury.

Wells was ruled out of an emotional return to Valley Parade, home of former club Bradford City, with “a knock” and his new side missed his presence as they lost for the first time in Sky Bet League One this season.

Luton fell to a 2-1 loss and the preseason favourites have dropped to ninth in the table with two wins and a defeat in their three games.

Wells was “devastated” to miss the match but the good news for Bermuda supporters, who are looking forward to the arrival of Jamaica in the first game of the final stage of World Cup qualifying in three weeks, is that the injury is thought to be only minor.

“I’m absolutely devastated to miss the game, that’s for sure,” he told the Telegraph & Argus.

“It was the one fixture I was really looking forward to; I haven’t had a chance to come back to Valley Parade since I left as a player.

“I picked up a niggle this week. It’s not a bad one and I’m gutted, but these things happen in football.

“Hopefully I get a reunion in the second half of the season when Bradford come to Luton.”

There was still Bermudian representation in League One on Saturday afternoon when goalkeeper Nathan Trott continued his fine start to the season with Cardiff City.

Trott failed to face a single shot on target as Cardiff ran out easy 3-0 winners at home to Rotherham United.

The victory moved Cardiff up to second at this early stage of the season after two wins and a draw, with Trott conceding only one goal in three league matches to date.
