The PHC Foundation have announced the receipients of its 2025 scholarship awardees.

A total of $35,000 has been awarded to 14 young people to assist with their studies at preparatory school, Bermuda College and overseas colleges and universities.

The awardees included Kairo Lewis, Cavon Nisbett, Dakari Smith-Davis, Rahkeem Wilson, Damarley Francis, T’syi Showers, Shavon Nisbett, Majesty Wilson, Anayah Curtis, Chavi Pacheco-Hill, Harlem Bean-Fox, Taje Hunt, Delia Ebbin and Enrique Russell.

“We are extremely proud of these extraordinary young people selected to receive a PHC Foundation Scholarship Award,” PHC Foundation president Mark Simons said.

“Congratulations to all of you. We wish you well in your studies this school year.”

The scholarships were presented during the 21st Annual Scholarship Awards Ceremony held at Chubb Bermuda and attended by PHC Foundation donors, family, friends and guests who celebrated the positive accomplishments of the awardees.

Among the guest speakers was Bermuda Football Association president and former PHC player, Mark Wade, who is delighted by the amount of scholarships being awarded this year.

“This year is the biggest with 18 applications received and 14 successful scholarship recipients. I don’t know if you can appreciate how huge that is,” he said.

“It took commitment, know-how and tireless enthusiasm. All values which are still exuded by the present committee. Mark Simons, O’Shandah “Shandy” Ming, Marquel Waldron, Tawana Fox, Robert Richardson, Ray Glasford and Kevin Warner are fantastic stewards of the foundation who together have served 87 years.”

Executive Assistant to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, national women’s team player and PHC Under-13 coach Taznae Fubler was the other guest speaker at the event.

Fubler, who is also a past scholarship recipient, encouraged the awardees to have “commitment and growth and remember to give back, whether it’s in sport, in service or in life”.

Since its inception in 2004, the PHC Foundation has awarded over $397,000 in scholarship grants.
