Goalkeeper Nathan Trott could miss Cardiff City’s Sky Bet League One clash at home to Plymouth Argyle on Saturday through injury.

Bluebirds manager Brian Barry-Murphy has confirmed the Bermudian is nursing a tight hamstring and is doubtful for the unbeaten league leaders’ next match in front of their own fans at Cardiff City Stadium.

“Nathan had some tightness in his hamstring and he’s 50/50 for Saturday,” he said on the club’s official website.

Trott's unavailability could prove a major setback for Barry-Murphy's side as he has played an integral role between the posts in the team’s blistering start to the season, conceding just one goal in five appearances.

“He's done exceptionally well and has had a really positive influence on the team, which is what we hoped for,” Barry-Murphy said.

The 26-year-old was not in Cardiff’s squad that defeated League Two side Cheltenham Town 3-0 at Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday night in the second round of the Carabao Cup, but was expected to regain his spot in their line-up for Saturday’s league clash with Plymouth.

Trott produced a string of saves in his last outing in Cardiff’s 1-0 home league win over compatriot Nahki Wells’s Luton Town last weekend, which earned him man of the match accolades.

Among Barry-Murphy’s options for Saturday’s clash with Plymouth should Trott be unavailable are Jak Alnwick and Matthew Turner, who kept a clean sheet in his absence in the Bluebirds convincing win over Cheltenham.

Cardiff hold a one point advantage over nearest rival Huddersfield Town at the top of the League One table and will face Premier League side Burnley in the third round of the Carabao Cup next month.
