Jutorre Burgess hopes to play part in thrilling cup clash
Harborough Town winger Jutorre Burgess is counting the days with bated breath until his team’s Emirates FA Cup third qualifying round commitment at home to Peterborough Sports FC.
The Bermudian, who earned a first call-up to the senior national team for the World Cup qualifiers during the international window this month, is pumped for the September 27 tie, which he considers as an “opportunity for growth” against formidable opponents.
“Facing a strong team as Peterborough Sports FC in the FA Cup presents an opportunity for our growth and a challenge to overcome through our discipline and teamwork,” Burgess told The Royal Gazette.
“It should be a good game with some of the lads knowing the opposition quite well
The 19-year-old played an integral role in helping the Southern League Premier Division Central outfit make club history last season by getting to the second round proper.
The Bees moved a step closer to getting into the first round proper of the prestigious competition after coming from two goals down to edge Worksop Town 3-2 in the second qualifying round at Bowdens Park last weekend.
Burgess was ruled out of the cup-tie through injury but is hoping to rejoin Harborough’s squad for their league fixture away to Leiston on Saturday.
“I am fully recovered from injury thanks to the physios at Harborough Town and Craig Brown and his team at Apex Physio,” he said. “They have helped me get through a tough period because no player wants to be injured.
“Hopefully I can get back on the pitch this weekend and show the gaffer [manager Mitch Austin] that I'm ready for the upcoming game ahead.”
The unbeaten Bees are off to the flying start to the season as they hold a three- point advantage at the top the Southern League Premier Division Central standings with five victories from their opening seven fixtures.
