Kennahz Fray scored a stunning goal for Future Pro Academy to overcome Thomas Telford School 2-1 in the Under-19 Men’s Premier Category 1 on Wednesday.

Fray displayed great technique to score with a half-volley from six yards out. Another Bermudian Harlem Bean-Fox started the match in Telford, England.

“Coming off a successful preseason, I’m proud to have scored in the first competitive under-19 match in a hard-fought 2-1 win,” Fray told The Royal Gazette.

“Going into the last attack of the first half, from a corner kick, the ball was crossed into the box and deflected just outside the six-yard box.

“I saw an opportunity to strike the ball on the volley, beating the keeper to the left side of the goal, making it 1-0 at half-time.”

On Monday, the former Bermuda Under-17 players featured in Future Pro’s 3-2 victory over FCV in the Under-23 National Football Youth League. It was the team’s second consecutive victory.

“I have also been invited to play up in the Under-23 National Football Youth League to further challenge me,” the 17-year-old said.

“I am really grateful for the opportunity to improve my skills as a footballer. There are a lot of positives going into the new season, my coaches and the staff have helped me to settle into their system.

“Everyone has been very supportive and I am excited to see where this new journey at Future Pro takes me.”

Fray and Bean-Fox are among five Bermudian young footballers at the Coventry-based academy. The others are Jahni Simmons, Shiloh Waite and Chedi Smith.

While Smith and Simmons have been part of the academy from 2024, the others only moved there this year.

Simmons last week signed for Coventry Sphinx, a club which has a partnership for a full-time football and education programme with Future Pro. She made her debut in a 3-2 victory over Hednesford Town on Sunday.

Bermuda women’s coach Naquita Robinson has expressed her joy about Simmons joining Sphinx.

“As a coach you want your players to continuously move up,” she said.

“I’m proud of Jahni as she has been putting in the work and deserves this opportunity. The timing couldn't be better as we are about to begin our Concacaf Nations League journey.”
