Paynter and Simons join BFA executive ranks
St George’s Cricket Club president Mishael Paynter and referee Tashun Simons are the newest members of Bermuda Football Association’s executive committee.
The pair were elected from a pool of four candidates during the BFA’s Annual Congress Meeting held at Bermuda College on Monday. Honorary vice-presidents Neville Tyrell and Larry Mussenden and Director of Sport and Recreation Kimberly Charryse Bean were among those in attendance.
The Congress, football’s ultimate authority, received year-end reports from all of the BFA’s standing committees during the meeting.
The association were also given an administrative “clean bill of health” with an unqualified audit opinion by Deloitte and passed Fifa’s audit of the funding provided by the world governing body.
In an impassioned plea, BFA president Mark Wade encouraged the association’s member clubs to recommit to its Presidents’ Forum to ensure the development of the game gets the year-round attention that it deserves.
During the meeting, the BFA highlighted the gold medal-winning achievements of Bermuda’s Under -23 men’s and senior women’s teams at this year’s Island Games in Orkney.
It is the second straight time the senior national women’s team have the won the competition at the event and third overall.
