Dwight Yorke names Trinidad squad for Bermuda match
Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke has named a 26-man squad for Trinidad & Tobago’s 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers against Bermuda and Curaçao.
Head coach Yorke, who represented Trinidad at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, is still searching for his side’s first win in group B after picking up a solitary point from two matches with a 0-0 draw against Curaçao followed by losing 2-0 to Jamaica.
Trinidad face Bermuda at Flora Duffy Stadium on Friday (7pm) before they clash with Curaçao again on Tuesday.
Among the Trinidad squad's key players is Spartak Moscow forward Levi Garcia, who the Bermuda defence will need to keep an eye on.
Garcia has netted ten times for his national team and looks certain to feature with two newcomers to the squad Deron Payne and Mollik Jesse Khan, who play in the top division in Holland and Slovakia respectively, pushing for their debuts.
Rio Cardines made his senior debut for Crystal Palace last week. The 19-year-old, who can be deployed at left back or right back, played as Palace defeated Ukrainian champions FC Dynamo Kyiv 2-0 in the Europa Conference League.
Four players in Yorke’s squad are playing in America ― Dante Sealy (CF Montreal), Tyrese Spicer (Orlando City), Kobi Henry (Real Salt Lake) and Wayne Frederick (Colorado Rapids),
The Trinidad squad is in Miami for a training camp and is expected to arrive in Bermuda on Wednesday night.
