Bermuda captain Nahki Wells will play no part in the World Cup qualifying clash with Jamaica at the National Stadium in Kingston on Tuesday night (9pm).

The Bermuda Football Association confirmed that the forward did not travel with the squad to the Caribbean as a result “personal family reasons”.

Wells has featured in all of Bermuda’s matches in the final round of qualifying matches until this point but whether he rejoins Michael Findlay’s squad for the remainder of the group stages probably hinges on the outcome of the game against the Reggae Boyz.

“I am committed to the tournament but there’s no doubt that I'll have some decisions to make if we are unable to pick up maximum points in the next round because that gives ourselves a really big task,” Wells told The Royal Gazette in the build up to last Friday’s 3-0 defeat against Trinidad and Tobago at Flora Duffy Stadium.

Bermuda are anchored at the bottom of group B with no points after losing their first three fixtures.

Upon his return to training with Luton Town, Wells will get the chance to meet new head coach Jack Wilshere.

Jack Wilshere has been appointed head coach of Luton Town

The former Arsenal and England midfielder, 33, has replaced Matt Bloomfield who was sacked this month after Luton dropped to eleventh in League one following defeat to Stevenage Borough.

Wilshere, who was capped 34 times and also had playing spells with West Ham, AFC Bournemouth and Aarhus GF, cannot wait to get started at Luton, where his journey in the sport began as a youngster.

“It feels like a full-circle moment for me,” Wilshere said on the club’s official website.

“I was eight when I first came to Luton as a boy, so I guess you could say it’s fate that my first full-time club managerial position is at this club

“It’s a huge honour and a privilege to be named Luton Town manager. I couldn’t be more delighted to be here and I can’t wait to manage this football club.”
