Six Bermudian footballers are heading to the North Atlantic Conference play-offs with Thomas College after finishing on top at the end of the regular season.

Cody Robinson, Tre Burgess, Stefan Simmons, Justin Sukdeo, Adio DeShield-Tankard, and T'syi Showers, who received a first-round bye, face Maine Maritime Academy in the semi-finals last Saturday. Their opponents defeated University of Maine 3-2 on Wednesday.

Showers, who is in first season at the Maine-based school, is excited about the prospect of winning the NAC Championship.

“The team looks strong going into the play-offs,” Showers told The Royal Gazette.

“We are focused on retaining the NAC Championship. I’m ready to get out on the pitch for the upcoming game.”

In their last regular league match when they defeated University of Maine Presque Isle 6-0 last Saturday, Showers provided two assists.

“The experience has been good,” the 21-year-old said.

“The team looks strong and we get along really well. I’ve got a great relationship with everybody here, it’s like I’ve known them for years.”

Showers, a PHC player and recipient of the Bermuda Football Association Legends Scholarship, has so far played 16 matches, had 14 shots, scored one goal and provided four assists.

Burgess has played more matches than any Bermudian at Thomas this season. The 20-year-old has appeared 19 times, took 16 shots at goal, scored once and weighed in with five assists.

Meanwhile, three Bermudian young footballers at Future Pro Academy in England played in a professional showcase fixture against Hartlepool United Under-18 on Friday.

Harlem Bean-Fox, Kennahz Fray and Chedi Smith featured in the match. According to Future Pro, the encounter provided the young stars with an valuable platform to demonstrate their ability in a competitive professional environment, which allowed them to gain further exposure.

“Earlier in October, Harlem earned a trial with Coventry City Under-18, a professional English academy,” Future Pro said.

“This opportunity is a direct result of Harlem’s discipline, work ethic and consistently high-level performances within the Future Pro programme.

“Future Pro also recognises the outstanding progress of Jahni Simmons, who received a trial with Halifax, a third tier club competing in the FA Women’s National League, just two divisions below the Super League.

“This represents a significant achievement for Jahni and highlights her commitment, professionalism and continual development within the women’s game.

“During October, Jahni reached the first round proper of the FA Cup with Coventry Sphinx.

“Despite defeat by National League side Derby County, this marks a notable achievement to be competing in the FA Cup.

“Additionally, she featured in a County Cup fixture against Aston Villa Under-21 at Bodymoor Heath, the official training ground of Aston Villa.

“After a period on the sidelines through injury, Shiloh Waite has made a strong return to training, working closely with both the under-19 and under-21 squads.

“The 17-year-old will feature in the next professional showcase fixture against Walsall FC Academy, marking an exciting step forward in his continued development and return to full match action.”
