Head coach Michael Findlay has named some fresh faces in the Bermuda squad for the final two World Cup qualifiers against Curaçao and Trinidad & Tobago.

Former Bermuda under-17 captain Logan Jimenez, who plays in Scotland for Hibernian, has been handed his first call-up to the senior team, while Jace Donawa, younger brother of Justin, has also been selected after starring for the under-23 team at the Island Games in Orkney this summer.

X-Roads striker Danavon Thompson has also been given the nod for the first time, with Nahki Wells not making the trip after choosing to prioritise his club commitments with Luton Town now Bermuda have no chance of making it to the World Cup next year.

There are numerous changes to the squad from the previous international window last month with forward Kane Crichlow, midfielder Willie Clemons, and defenders Deniche Hill, J-Nai Butterfield-Steede, Reese Jones Jr and Julian Carpenter all missing out for various reasons.

But their absence has provided the opportunity for local players Jorj Dublin, Riley Robinson, Daniel Cook and Eusebio Blankendal to return to the fold, with Findlay also selecting a fourth goalkeeper in Milai Perott, who plays in England for Notts County.

Findlay is happy to have the chance to blood some more new players with his focus turning to the future after the end of the World Cup campaign.

“Our selections for the November matches have provided the same previous challenges with players experiencing club commitment issues, the ongoing university season, personal conflicts and injuries, but we must navigate our way through those moments,” he said.

“From a positive perspective, it has also provided us with the opportunity to select a group of players representing youth and the domestic game, players making their debut along with several of our established players on the international stage.

“This can only assist our continued growth and sustainability as a team whose goal must be to play meaningful matches whenever possible. We are excited to welcome Logan, Jace, and Danavon to the squad, along with the return of Milai following his recovery from injury, and Riley and Daniel returning to the squad after their absence for a period.”

Bermuda will play Curaçao at the Flora Duffy Stadium on November 13 at 8pm before travelling to take on Trinidad on November 18.
