Hamilton Parish forfeited their First Division match against league leaders Somerset Trojans at Somerset Cricket Club on Sunday.

Parish coach Makhail Saltus confirmed that his team did not have enough players to field a team and forfeited the match with their opponents being awarded a 3-0 win.

It was the second straight week that the Crawl Hill club have forfeited a league match owing to the unavailability of players after also being unable to field a team for their previous outing against St David’s.

According to Bermuda Football Association’s general rules for divisional competitions, “any team that defaults three matches during the season will be banned from participating in any further competitions relating to the division in which the matches were defaulted for the remainder of the season”.

Bottom side Parish, who also pulled out of the FA Cup citing a lack of match fitness, have struggled with numbers after losing nearly 20 players as well as the services of coach Sergio Goater to Robin Hood since the end of last season.

Unbeaten Trojans top the First Division standings by three points over Southampton Rangers, who edged sixth-placed Vasco 2-1 at Police Field on Sunday.

Rangers’s Anthony Rocker and Vasco’s Lucas DeSilva Marcal traded first-half goals before Dominique Hill grabbed the winner for the away side in the 62nd minute.

Rangers hold a three-point advantage over third-place Robin Hood, whose match against fourth place Somerset Eagles fell prey to Hurricane Melissa and will be rescheduled.

Hood have two games in hand over fellow promotion hopefuls Trojans and Rangers and are the only other unbeaten team in the league.

Eagles, who are level on points with Hood, and fifth place St David’s also have a game in hand.

Sunday’s remaining First Division match saw Wolves edge hosts St David’s 1-0 at Lord’s courtesy of Kyle Brangman’s 84th minute winner.

The victory was the first of the season for Wolves who are second from the bottom of the eight team standings.
