North Village coach Calvin Dill Jr has described the Premier Division encounter against St George’s Colts as a massive fixture for both sides.

The two teams, who are separated by four places in the table with Village fourth in the table on nine points and St George’s eighth on five points, clash at Bernard Park tonight (8pm).

In their last league visit to Bernard Park in January, St George’s dented Village’s title aspirations with a 3-2 victory but Village recovered from that defeat to win the championship at the end of March.

“It’s a big one for both teams,” Dill told The Royal Gazette.

“I know St George’s would like to get out of the situation they’re in. We want to continue to climb the table and be as close as possible to the top by the end of the year. It’s going to be a match where we have to be at our best.”

Village have won their last two matches. after recording three draws and a defeat in their opening four games.

“It’s starting to get together,” the Village coach said. “Our boys are starting to understand the system and we’re getting a nice little understanding of the team concept again.

“It’s good to get a shutout and we got shutouts in our last two matches. We’re looking in the right direction right now and the key for us is putting the work in training and executing the job that’s got to be done.”

Victory has eluded St George’s in their last four matches, with Drewonde Bascome’s drawing twice and suffering two defeats to leave them third from bottom.

The East Enders came from behind to fight for a 2-2 draw with X-Roads on Sunday and Bascome is eyeing a win against Village.

“We are going for three points,” he said.

In matches scheduled for the weekend, Young Men’s Social Club have a chance to bounce back from the 6-0 loss they suffered at the hands of PHC, when they clash with X-Roads.

PHC, fired up by the big win in their last encounter, face leaders Devonshire Colts, who had their last match against Paget postponed.

Boulevard, still searching for a first win of the season, clash with Dandy Town. For the Hornets, the contest presents a great opportunity to bring an end to a two-match losing streak.

Devonshire Cougars, who beat Town 2-1 in their last outing, face Paget in the remaining match.
