Bermuda under-17 women’s squad announced
Bermuda’s squad for the Concacaf under-17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers has been announced.
The 21-strong squad face three games in five days from January 24 to 28, with all of their matches to be played at Flora Duffy Stadium.
First up for the Lady Gombey Warriors is a game against Suriname on January 24 at 7pm, with Bonaire providing the next challenge 48 hours later. The campaign concludes with a fixture against Panama on January 28.
St Kitts and Nevis were originally drawn to be in this group but withdrew from the competition.
Gary Ray, coach of the under-17 team, is looking forward to playing the game on home soil.
“I am very excited and look forward to leading this group through the first round of World Cup Qualifiers,” Ray said.
“The team has a good balance of local and overseas-based players, with many returning players having experience playing in last year’s Concacaf Championship round.
“The new structure, which sees an under-17 World Cup every year, is both challenging and exciting. We are looking forward to representing our country at home and aim to repeat our success of qualifying for the Championship Round with the ultimate goal of the World Cup later this year in Morocco.”
