Colts and Town feature in double header at PHC Field
The picture at both ends of the Premier Division could be come clearer after a double header at PHC Field on Wednesday night.
The Bermuda Football Association announced the rare midweek treat after the fixture list was impacted following two consecutive wild weekends of weather, with all but one fixture cancelled.
The first game, which is scheduled to take place at 7pm on Wednesday, impacts both ends of the table with title-chasing Dandy Town taking on relegation-threatened Paget.
Dandy Town go into the game in third place on 28 points from 12 games and are two points behind league leaders PHC, who have played a game more. After a mid-season blip, Town are back in good form, winning 3-1 away at Devonshire Cougars in their last match on Friday night.
Paget face a struggle to maintain their Premier Division status are in the relegation zone on nine points from 12 games but they remain within touching distance of the teams above them, trailing Young Men’s Social Club and St George’s by just a point and with games in hand on both their rivals.
Antwan Russell’s side came close to causing an upset after losing just 1-0 on Saturday against title contenders Devonshire Colts, who take on St George’s in the second game of the night.
Ray Jones’s side are favourites to lift the Premier Division title and go into this game in second place in the standings, two points behind PHC but with two games in hand.
Goal difference could prove crucial with Colts’ differential of +13 the same as both PHC and Dandy Town, but Colts have scored more goals with 30 to PHC and Town’s 25.
