Bermuda squad named for friendly against DR Congo
The Bermuda squad for the international friendly match against Democratic Republic of Congo in Mexico on Wednesday (6pm Bermuda time) has been announced.
Bermuda Football Association technical development director Maurice Lowe will be taking the team after head coach Michael Findlay left his positon last week. Lowe will be assisted by Fifa talent coach Jake Littlejohn and X-Roads coach Farid El Karfa.
Among the players named in the squad are goalkeeper Nathaniel Swan, North Village midfielder Amir Dill, Elisha Darrell, Senoj Mitchell Ajani Burchall, La Zai Outerbridge and Joshua Joseph.
The Bermudian footballers are gearing up to face established Premier League stars such as Aaron Wan-Bissaka (West Ham United), Axel Tuanzebe (Burnley) and Yoane Wissa (Newcastle) as DR Congo prepares to play a World Cup qualification decider against Jamaica or New Caledonia.
“The opportunity to play DR Congo is an important step in our development,” Lowe said.
“They are ranked 48th in the Fifa world rankings and are preparing for a World Cup intercontinental play-off match against the winner of Jamaica and New Caledonia.
“We have assembled a team of local and overseas-based players who want to be a part of the Nations League in the fall.”
