Premier Division champions Dandy Town will be looking to extend their unbeaten four-game streak in all competitions when they come up against struggling Young Men’s Social Club in the first match of a double header at PHC Field tonight (7pm).

Hornets have not tasted defeat since relinquishing the Charity Cup to cross town rivals North Village in the season opening fixture last month.

During that stretch they have managed to get their league title defence off to a perfect start and secure their spot in the Dudley Eve Trophy semi-final.

It is for this very reason the St John’s Road club are the overwhelming favourites to come away with the points against Bluebirds.

However, Hornets coach Jarreau Hayward isn’t taking anything for granted against his team’s opponents, who possess a proven game winner in Bermuda international Zeiko Lewis.

“We are looking forward to a tough challenge against Bluebirds this weekend,” he told The Royal Gazette.

“Teams will underestimate them this season, but Dandy Town will not be one of them. We know they are well coached and in Zeiko Lewis they have magic on the pitch, so we will have to be at our best.”

Both teams will be bolstered by the return of players from national team duty in the Concacaf Nations League in the Caribbean.

Goalkeeper and defender Jahquill Hill and Lejaun Simmons have rejoined Town, while Bluebirds have welcomed the influential Lewis back into the fold. Hornets coach Hayward is also back at the helm after serving on the national team coaching staff during the recent Nations League campaign.

PHC Field has proven to be happy hunting ground for Hornets so far this season as two of their victories have been achieved at the Warwick ground, including a 3-1 demolition of Village that secured their spot in the last four of the Dudley Eve Trophy and avenged defeat against Cal “Patches” Dill’s team in the Charity Cup exactly a week ago.

Tonight’s second match at PHC Field will see hosts PHC Zebras come up against Devonshire Cougars (9pm).

Zebras, who are also through to the last four in the Dudley Eve Trophy competition, got their league campaign off to the perfect start after edging Devonshire Colts 2-1, while Cougars were forced to share the points against promoted Somerset Trojans after squandering a two-goal advantage.

Zebras will be bolstered by the return of striker Enrique Russell and coach Cecoy Robinson, who also returned from Nations League duty with the national team this week.

The First Division campaign also gets underway today, with Shield champions Somerset Eagles hosting relegated Boulevard at White Hill Field (3pm).

Tomorrow’s remaining Premier Division fixtures sees Paget Lions hosting St George’s Colts at White Hill Field, Trojans are at home to Devonshire Colts while hosts Village take on X-Roads Warriors at Bernard Park.

Lions, who are also through to the last four in the Dudley Eve Trophy, are searching for their first win after losing 2-0 against Village in their league season opener, while St George’s are attempting to build on their perfect start after coming away with the points against Bluebirds.

With just one win under their belt in three outings in all competitions, Colts are off to a slow start to the season, something coach Ray Jones attributes to the loss of players, such as defender Jorj Dublin and forwards Elisha Darrell and Diego Richardson, to national team duty.

“Not the start we was looking for. Player availability has played a part and having three starting players away on national squad duty was not ideal,” Jones said.

Dublin, Darrell and Richardson are expected to rejoin Jones’s squad for tomorrow’s clash away to Trojans, who are also expected to have national team forward Justin Donawa back in their line-up as they look to build on an inspiring performance away to Cougars in their league opener.

Visiting Warriors are also seeking their first league win coming up against Village after losing 3-2 to Hornets in the absence of key players last time out.

Farid El Karfa’s team, who are also through to the Dudley Eve Trophy semi-finals, are expected to be back at full strength, while Village midfielder Sincere Hall has been ruled out with a hamstring injury he suffered in Bermuda’s 2-1 defeat away to Barbados in the Nations League on Monday.

London Steede is expected to reclaim his spot in a Village defence that will be put to the test against a rampant X-Roads’ attack that have banged in 17 goals in three outings thus far in all competitions.

Tomorrow’s remaining First Division fixtures sees Vasco hosting Hamilton Parish at Police Field and Wolves doing battle with visiting Southampton Rangers at Bernard Park.
