Nahki Wells score winner as Luton Town edge Barnsley
Nahki Wells scored the decisive goal for Luton Town in a 2-1 win over Barnsley at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday.
Wells doubled his side’s lead four minutes before the break after Mads Juel Andersen had fired them ahead in the second minute to calm the nerves of the home crowd.
Substitute Makenzie Kirk pulled one back for Barnsley in the 58th minute to set up a tense finish, but the Hatters defended resolutely and managed the game well to secure their fourth triumph of the season.
The win was the perfect response for Luton after they suffered a disappointing 2-1 loss away to Milton Keynes Dons at the weekend. Victory lifted Wells and his team-mates three places to thirteenth in the League One table, prior to their home encounter with Leicester City on Saturday.
It was the Bermudian’s second goal for his club after the international break. The 36-year-old was on target on October 10 in his team’s 4-1 triumph over Wycombe Wanderers, continuing his fine form in front of goal.
