Investment will be the focus of a free webinar hosted by the Bermuda Monetary Authority next month to mark World Investor Week.

The event will form part of Bermuda’s celebration of the tenth anniversary of World Investor Week, from October 5 to 9, with a public education campaign dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of financial literacy, investor awareness and informed decision-making.

The BMA, the island’s financial services regulator, will launch the campaign, under the theme “Invest in your future, protect it today”.

The webinar, which is open to the general public and features speakers including financial professionals and subject-matter experts from the BMA, is entitled “Future proofing finance: skills, technology and opportunity for tomorrow’“.

It will take place on Thursday, October 8, from 2pm to 4pm. Members of the public can register for this free event until October 1.

Online attendees will be able to participate in the live panel discussion and submit questions during the session.

“This year’s overall focus is supporting investors in making informed, fact-based decisions amid evolving market conditions,” the BMA said in a statement.

“Key themes are investor resilience, digital deception and fraud prevention. This year’s event offers an opportunity to review smart investor habits and tips featured on the Authority’s website and social media channels.”

The BMA’s participation in World Investor Week is led by the International Organisation of Securities Commissions. Each year, Iosco brings together organisations from more than 100 jurisdictions to drive awareness around trending issues for investors.

Last year’s event brought together 137 participants from 118 jurisdictions, with activities reaching millions of individuals globally.

Principal themes and smart investor habits featured in the 2026 campaign include investor resilience, digital deception and scam alerts.

The investor resilience theme includes investment discipline in the face of volatility, and recognition of traits such as loss aversion, herd mentality and recency bias, as well as the importance of maintaining an emergency fund and rebalancing portfolios to align with long-term goals.

Digital deception is aimed at building investors’ critical capacity to evaluate, question and identify misleading or deceptive online content, including the use and limitations of artificial intelligence.

The scam alert segment will seek to equip investors to recognise, test and report investment fraud and scam tactics.
