Long-running Harbour Road repairs to finish next month

Repairs to a badly damaged section of Harbour Road are expected to be completed by the middle of next month, the Ministry of Public Works said yesterday.

Emergency repairs were started on the waterside lane between Burnt House Hill and Tamarind Vale after it collapsed into the sea late last year.

The section has been reduced to single-lane traffic for more than a month.

The work was at first hoped to be completed by December 18, but the timeline was pushed back to the end of this month.

A spokeswoman for the Ministry said that work was still in progress and the road would not back to normal for another few weeks.

She added: “As with any outdoor project, inclement weather is always a factor, however the road work crews are making progress in completing these necessary road repairs.

“Phase two of the project is now under way, and it is anticipated that the road works, including the repaving, should be completed by mid-February.

“To avoid delays, the ministry encourages the motoring public to consider taking alternative routes if possible and, for those who must use this route, the ministry urges the motoring public to please exercise care and caution."
