Crash speed bump road closed for investigation

A street that was the scene of a serious road accident has been closed off by the City of Hamilton.

Laffan Street was shut after a 43-year-old woman on a motorbike suffered serious head injuries after she drove over a newly-installed speed bump and lost control.

A corporation engineer and workmen were seen at the site yesterday.

A spokeswoman for the corporation said: “At this point in time the matter is under investigation by the Bermuda Police Service.

“The road is currently closed to allow the City to conduct its own internal assessment.

“Therefore, the City of Hamilton is advising any motorists travelling to Bull’s Head car park for Covid-19 testing that there are currently traffic diversions in the area and that all traffic going to Bull’s Head or Masters should access the area from Woodlands Road.”

Police appealed for witnesses to the crash to contact them.
