Two youth groups raised $3,500 for charity on Saturday with a carwash and bake sale in Paget.

The Bermuda Boys’ Brigade and the Church Girls’ Brigade hosted their annual Christmas fundraiser at the St Paul’s Church car park and church hall, with proceeds going towards the Family Centre’s Belco Hardship Fund.

Sandy DeSilva, Family Centre executive director, praised the tireless work of the group.

Dr DeSilva added: “Every year their donation goes towards keeping the lights on for families who are struggling to meet their basic needs.

“It has been an honour and a privilege to see how dedicated the Brigade leaders, parents and youth are to making a positive difference in the lives of others.

“Our Family Centre team and the family recipients of the Belco support cannot thank the Boys’ Brigade and Church Girls’ Brigade enough for their generosity.”

The Brigade will host its next carwash at St Paul’s on February 12 as part of its Valentine’s Fair event.
