29-year-old man dies after crash in Hamilton Parish

A 29-year-old motorcycle rider has died following a two-vehicle crash on North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish on Tuesday.

The incident happened at about 3.30pm when the victim was in collision with a truck at the junction with Radnor Road.

A police spokesman said the rider was taken to hospital complaining of chest pains. He also suffered a head injury.

He added: “While receiving treatment for what were determined to be life-threatening injuries, he succumbed to those injuries.”

Shadow transport minister Susan Jackson said yesterday afternoon: “It's heartbreaking to hear of another young man losing his life on our roads. The One Bermuda Alliance extends its heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of the deceased.

“Road fatalities have sadly reached a crisis point. I am urging everyone to use the roads responsibly over this long holiday weekend.”

A family liaison officer has been appointed to assist the family of the dead man.

An investigation into the accident – the island's fourth road fatality of the year – has begun. Anyone with information on this incident, is asked to call 211 or the main police number on 295 0011.
