Little bit of magic for Bermuda police officer

Team leader: Jerome Laws, right, passed a course in how to command a team during a major incident (Photograph supplied)

A Bermuda Police officer has successfully completed a course on how to lead a team during a major incident or civil emergency.

Acting Superintendent Jerome Laws took part in the Multi-Agency Gold Incident Command, (MAGIC), workshop in Miami, Florida, last month.

According to a police spokesman, the training aims were to develop delegates' confidence, understanding and ability to perform the role of Gold Commander by planning, implementing and reviewing a multi-agency strategy to ensure the timely resolution of a major incident or civil emergency.

The training, which took place last month, provided a legislative and practical framework for strategic level command in emergencies and major incidents, where a multi-agency response is required.
