A final call was made for leaders in areas such as social services, youth development and education to register for a training programme about ways to support staff through a supervision framework.

The sessions, over two days, are expected to help attendees feel “confident, competent and inspired”.

A spokeswoman for the Inter Agency Committee for Children, Families, and the Community, which will host the programme, said the training will introduce "leaders working in human services to different supervision models as well as reflective and clinical supervision best practice“.

The event will be led by Laura Robinson, a senior registered psychologist and supervisor, and Jade Templer, a senior clinical psychologist of Solstice, a holistic wellness centre.

Sessions will be at HSBC’s Harbour View Branch from 9.30am to 5pm on November 17 and 18.

An IAC spokeswoman explained: “The workshop will provide increased confidence and skills in the setting up, delivery and evaluation of supervision.

“Supervisors and managers will be challenged to consider wider system issues, the client and agency in the delivery of supervision, and will include role play, reflective learning tasks, practical examples, demonstrations and follow-up virtual reflective practice sessions.

“Participants will be invited to participate in six months of monthly group supervision to support their ongoing development in supervision practices.”

Dr Templer said: “If you are reading this and you are a helping professional, intrigued to know more about best practice for supervising and supporting yourself and your colleagues, or, if you recognise the need for positive outcomes and support systems at work and are committed to developing and working in the best kind of workplace you can, than this three-part training series will leave you feeling confident, competent and inspired to receive and offer clinically informed supervision.”

The cost of the two-day training is $160 for IAC members or $800 for non-members.
