Police appeal for information on rental bike crash

Police are appealing for witnesses to a rental bike crash – where the driver could not be found.

At 4.30am today, police attended the accident involving the rental cycle, on North Shore Road near the junction of East Point Lane.

A police spokesman said officers found the bike crashed into a wall but there was no sign of the driver.

“Officers conducted searches of the coastline as well as the residential areas in the proximity of the collision scene without success,” said the spokesman.

“Traffic was diverted away from the area while the scene was processed. However, the roadway was reopened shortly after 7.15am.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the BPS non-emergency number, 211 or the main police number, 295-0011
