Court Street comes alive with seasonal market

The sights and sounds of Court Street are ramping up for Christmas, with the popular street market yesterday followed by late-night shopping this week.

The street went pedestrian from Victoria Street to Tills Hill from noon until 6pm, with vendors and entertainment.

Area businesses organised late-night shopping from today through Christmas Eve, with bargains on offer from 6pm to 10pm.

Nadine Dillas, of the Court Street Market Association, said: “The road will not be closed off for late-night shopping — we will just have a buzzing street with a DJ out and live entertainment.

“We want to keep the drive of people coming into the area after the market is finished.”

Ms Dillas, who runs Nadz Beauty Salon on Court Street, said the popularity of the markets prompted businesses to organise and keep the energy going.

The Bermuda Economic Development Corporation has pitched in with sponsorship.

Ms Dillas added: “We will have items given away from different stores coming together to give something back to the people who have supported us.”

Different shops in Court Street will offer their own bargains.

“We are looking to do more in the new year coming,” Ms Dillas said.

“It’s not just our markets. It’s also community.”

Details and updates will be posted on the Empowered Shopping Village Facebook page.
