Christmas at the Curve brings tidings of joy to community
The Curving Avenue community got into the spirit of Christmas at a holiday block party organised by the Church of God of Prophesy,
Shayne Scott, pastor at the church, said Christmas at the Curve, on Sunday, was a huge success with fun and games for the community’s children.
“It was a really fantastic event,” he said. “We had a really great time. We had about 40 kids come out for the community and the weather was able to hold out for us just long enough.
“We prayed that God would hold back the showers for a few hours and we were able to go ahead with everything and have a really good time.”
He added that the organisers were able to give away a number of items, including a bicycle, gift cards and an iPhone as part of the celebration, while the church shared its faith with residents.
“People were able to come by, hang out and have a great time,” he added. “We are so excited to be able to do this during Christmas time and really share the love of God and some Christmas cheer.”
Vanessa Scott, a minister at the church, said that they had been concerned that the weather might dampen turnouts, but they were grateful that had not been the case.
“We did what we wanted to accomplish, and that is to bring some joy and share love from our church,” she said. “Our doors are open.
“People were happy, joyful, excited and they had a great time. They really did.”
