Young sports club members raised almost $800 in just two weeks for a family charity.

Dandy Town Youth Academy raised the money for Family Centre and presented the organisation with a check for $784 yesterday.

According to DTYA’s youth co-ordinator, Shawnette Perott, the charity was an obvious choice for the club to give to this year.

“They service families, and we have a few families [within our club] who have probably been there or have used their services and the families are grateful for them.”

Family Centre’s relationship development director, Thania Redman, said: “The donation was quite a big number and we are so very thankful for the support.

“The money will go towards sustaining our key programmes for our children, teens and families.”
