Garbage collection delayed due to mechanical issues with trucks

Breakdowns in garbage trucks caused delays in trash collection

Garbage collection over the weekend will be delayed due to mechanical problems with trash trucks, the Department of Works and Engineering said today.

A department spokesman said that mechanical crews would work throughout the night to fix “mechanical failures in several collection vehicles”.

Garbage that is not collected on Saturday will instead be collected on Monday.

Residents are advised to secure their waste if not collected over the weekend and place it outside again on Monday.

They have also been advised to use the Tynes Bay drop-off in Devonshire, which will be open from 7am to 7pm on Saturday and Sunday and from 9am to 12pm on Monday.

The Ministry of Public Works apologised for any inconvenience.
