Tynes Bay is unable to receive commercial waste for the rest of the day owing to a small fire at the facility, the Ministry of Public Works and Environment announced.
A spokeswoman said at 6.20pm that Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service personnel were at the site, with the situation under control, but that waste in parts of Sandys and Southampton were not collected today as a result.
She added that crews will prioritise garbage collection in these areas tomorrow and that the public drop-off remains open, with updates to be provided “as necessary”.
