Two people sustained injuries considered not to be life-threatening after a fire on a tugboat at Dockyard last night.

A Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said the fire on board the Department of Marine and Ports tugboat Faithful was contained by the vessel’s fire-extinguishing system.

Two fire trucks and nine personnel responded to the incident in which a fire ignited in the vessel’s engine room.

The two injured individuals were transported by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The spokesman said fire service personnel remained on scene “wetting down smouldering insulation materials and ventilating the engine room to remove residual smoke and heat”.

The cause of the fire is under Investigation.
