More than a dozen students have successfully completed a two-day training course in supervision practices.

The programme was organised by the Inter Agency Committee for Children, Families and the Community in partnership with a team of professional psychologists.

It was designed to introduce supervisors and managers working in human services to different supervision models. The training also included reflective and clinical supervision best practices.

An IAC spokeswoman said that participants were provided with tools needed to increase their confidence and skills in the setting up, delivery and evaluation of supervision.

All the participants said that since completing the training they now have an increased knowledge of supervision best practices and standards, with 15 of the 17 participants also stating they had experienced personal growth and increased resilience.

One student, Deneca Zuill, said: “Transitioning into a new role, delivering supervision felt intimidating. However, after this training I am feeling confident in supervising my colleagues that fall under my leadership.”

Professional psychologists Laura Robinson and Jade Templer, of Solstice, facilitated the training over the two days as well as the post-training reflective sessions.

The latest group of certificate awardees are: Aruna Dismont, Cal-Nika Bridgewater, Colette Simmons, Declan Harris, Deneca Zuill, Aria Bean, Jeanene Todd, LeeAnn Simmons, Renée Lightbourne, Rishee Smith-Pascal, Roydelle Chinapoo, Scymone A. Devent, Sharon Apopa, Sierra O’Meally, Susan Richardson, Tonae Tavares and Truell Landy.
