WindReach, the therapeutic centre in Warwick catering to people with special needs, has announced Kate Terceira as its new executive director, effective from November 1.

Her appointment follows a lengthy search by WindReach’s nominations committee after the retirement of Tina Nash.

Ross Webber, the committee chairman, said the group had been “pleasantly surprised and flattered by both the quality and quantity of prospective candidates who were interested in helping further the mission of WindReach”.

“Kate’s combination of third-sector experience, WindReach familiarity, expertise in therapeutic riding, engaging personality and overall honed management skills made her the best choice for this position, and we are delighted that she has chosen WindReach for this leadership role.”

Ms Terceira has previously served as group co-ordinator and equine specialist for Seaglass Clinical Consulting, a boutique Bermudian mental health clinic providing specialist psychiatric and psychological services.

She took on the Seaglass role after serving five years as executive director of the Bermuda SPCA.

Ms Terceira also served as the equine services manager for WindReach from 2003 to 2016.

Her certifications and qualifications include the Non-Profit Management Certificate.

Ms Terceira will have a handover with Ms Nash before taking on the role.

She said she was “thrilled to return to WindReach”.

“The broad spectrum of therapeutic, educational and inclusive experiences available to members of the community with physical and intellectual support needs that are available at WindReach are truly inspiring.”

She added: “I look forward to continuing to take the charity’s vision and mission into the next exciting phase of development.”

Stewart Ritchie, the chairman of the WindReach board, said: “We are delighted to welcome Kate Terceira as our new executive director.

“Kate was the outstanding candidate for the position. She comes with experience as an executive director and her prior experience with WindReach is an added bonus.”
