World Interact Week celebrated

The island’s Rotary clubs joined forces with businesses to support young people involved in community service projects.

The Rotary partnered with the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club, the Media Lounge and the Grotto Bay Beach Resort and Spa to provide film passes, pizzas and gift certificates to more than 130 members of Interact Clubs and their advisers to celebrate World Interact Week.

Interact clubs provide an opportunity for young people between the ages of 12 and 18 to organise and execute meaningful community service projects.

There are three clubs on the island — Hamilton Interact, Mount St Agnes Academy Interact Club and Somersfield Academy Interact Club.

Rotary assistant governor Peronia Browne visited the clubs and commended members for “their hard work, creativity and zeal for community service”.

She thanked the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club, The Grotto Bay Resort and Spa and the Media Lounge, in Dockyard, “for investing in youth development through the provision of tangible contributions to the week of activities”.

People interested in finding out more about the Interact Clubs in Bermuda, supporting their projects or joining a club can send a message on Instagram to @hope_rcbda or reach out to @mountsaintagnesbda , @rotaryinteract.bda or somersfieldacademybda.

World Interact Week 2023 was celebrated worldwide from October 30 to November 5.
