Island to remember those who fought and died in war

Never forget: Wreaths lay at the base of the Cenotaph following a recent Remembrance Day service (File photograph)

War veterans, military personnel, and civic leaders will gather at the Cenotaph today to remember Bermudians who fought and died in battle

The Remembrance Day ceremony and parade — always held on the anniversary of the end of the First World War in 1918 — will be led by the Governor, Rena Lalgie, who will lay a wreath at the Cenotaph memorial on Front Street.

Old soldiers, along with members of the Royal Bermuda Regiment, Bermuda Police Service, Royal Bermuda Regiment Junior Leaders and Bermuda Sea Cadets, will participate in the parade on Front Street, while music will be performed by the regiment’s Band & Corps of Drums, the Somerset Brigade Band, the Salvation Army Band and the Bermuda Islands Pipe Band.

There will be a number of road closures in Hamilton in place before the ceremony starts at 10.30am.

The ceremony will be broadcast live on the Government's Facebook page here and on CITV’s YouTube channel.
