The island’s fourth annual Bermuda Pride parade is set for August 31 as part of OutBermuda’s celebrations of inclusion.

The non-profit said this year’s Pride activities, under a theme of “Family Affair”, would run between August 28 and September 1.

It marks the third year of OutBermuda managing and hosting Pride events on the island.

The group’s organising committee hopes to solidify Pride as an annual event on Bermuda’s social calendar.

OutBermuda invited the LGBTQ+ community along with Bermudians at home and abroad and visitors to join in the festivities.

Tiffany Paynter, executive director of OutBermuda, said last year was the island’s “most successful Pride week”.

“For Pride 2024, we’re excited to build on the strengths of last year with a focus on the theme of family and what that means for our LGBTQ+ community, allies and loved ones.

“The majority of votes for this year’s theme went towards the theme of family and ultimately we hope ‘Family Affair’ reflects our community’s desire to bring awareness to the concept of chosen family and to explore the bonds of blood family.”

The theme will help shape Pride’s events, education and awareness campaigns, and OUTBermuda’s planning.

Leading the planning of Pride this year will be Najib Chentouf, the Pride 2024 project manager.

Mr Chentouf said: “I’m passionate about bringing people together for education, sharing and celebration.

“Bermuda Pride offers a great opportunity to do that.

“Centring our Bermudian LBGTQ+ community is needed and provides vital recognition.”

OutBermuda will be releasing details about the August calendar of events in the weeks ahead.

Details, including volunteer and sponsorship opportunities, are on the Pride website.

The community was invited to follow OutBermuda and Bermuda Pride on Instagram and Facebook.
